It’s been a busy summer in the US!

Our presence in the US has been on a steady rise and we’ve been busy bringing our old and new customers up to speed with everything to do with the TC2 in particular and weaving in general. And making it all happen (magically!) is our colleague Cathryn Amidei. Read all about her experiences during the whirlwind tour across the States this summer! Excerpts from Cathryn’s notes…
Sheridan College has a new TC-2 and Cathryn traveled to Oakville for 5 days for an up-and-running training workshop. The loom there is housed in a good studio with excellent facilities and staff. Rachel Miller is the head of the textiles department, and Kate Jackson and Janelle Guthrie are the expert Textile department Techs.
Tyler School of Art got their loom in 2015 and since then, they have offered residencies and classes on the TC-2. Jesse Harrod is the head of the textiles department there.
Every summer Kent State University offers the Kent Blossom Art program. This year, Betty (yeah, that’s what the cute-little 1W TC2 in the US is called) and Cathryn were there for a workshop. This was an intensive one-week Jacquard Design workshop using Photoshop. In addition to Betty, Kent has two TC1s that are in excellent condition. Students operated between the TC-1 and TC-2.
Betty and Cathryn also traveled to Peters Valley Craft School. There, Cathryn taught a five-day workshop with six participants. This was another intensive workshop that yielded wonderfully diverse work in damask, and multi-shuttle weaves.
