Two special weavers coming visiting from the UK!

Two special weavers coming visiting from the UK!
by

In the latter part of April, we had two incredible weavers – Hanna Vinlöf Nylén and Rosie Green – come over to Digital Weaving Norway to get their hands on the TC2, yet again! The duo were the “behind-the-scenes-heroes” during the three months (Nov 22, 2016-18, Feb, 2017) that the “Weaving Futures” exhibition was on at the London Transport Museum (LTM).

During their stint at the LTM, they helped renowned designers, researchers, artists and industry experts realize their ideas into digitally-woven textile prototypes on the TC2. Vibeke Vestby from Digital Weaving Norway speaks about her experience with the two talented weavers…

“As the Weaving Futures project at the London Transport Museum progressed, the two experts Hanna and Rosie impressed me more and more: They selected weave structures from a wide range of possibilities, always landing on weaves that emphasized the designs. I know perfectly well how stressful it may be to assist designers in converting their designs into fabric in as little time as possible! The additional pressure in this project was that the loom – actually the complete design studio – was part of the LTM exhibitions, with visitors asking questions all the time. Hanna and Rosie could have chosen to slightly modify some designs in order to make the job easier – but they didn’t! I understand perfectly well why London Transport Museum hired them for this job. We in Digital Weaving Norway also want to thank them – and the best way we could think of was to have them come to Norway and weave more on the TC2!”

We managed to capture a few moments from their visit to Norway…enjoy! 🙂
